The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran recently released a preliminary investigation report on the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the life of the late President Raeisi and his entourage.
The report pointed out that the helicopter was flying according to the scheduled flight plan, and it did not deviate from the established route. At least a minute and a half before the accident, the pilot of the crashed helicopter had normal communication with the flight crews of two other helicopters.
Furthermore, after a thorough search of the various parts of the crashed helicopter, the investigation team did not find any bullet holes or signs similar to an external attack. Regrettably, the helicopter caught fire after hitting the mountainside.
Due to the relatively complex geographical environment of the crash site, coupled with heavy fog and low temperatures, the search and rescue operations were extremely difficult and lasted for an entire day and night. However, finally, with the help of drones, the rescue personnel successfully located the exact site of the accident in the early hours of May 20th.
The report also reminds the public that although most information about the helicopter accident has been collected and organized, some details still require more time for thorough review and analysis.
